School Templates from different countries
1:15 Lesson observation form focusing on the start and the end of lessons – Ludvika municipality
Ludvika has developed their own observation form focusing on the start and the end of a lesson. It is based on / has been inspired by the school researcher Marcus Samuelsson’s book Lärandets ordning och reda, as well as the Swedish school Inspection authority’s observation form. When used, it can be divided into one for lesson start and one for lesson end.
1.14 England. Lesson learning review – Southfield School
This is an observation record from Southfield School in Kettering, England – a lesson learning review. The school is ranked as one of England’s five percent best schools. They work extremely consciously both on the breadth and in depth with feedback to teachers to develop the teaching and learning.
1.13 Sweden – Observationsschema – Hållbara strukturer, regler och rutiner – Eklidens skola
Micro visits for macro effect at Eklidens school in Nacka municipality. The observation template was used during the 2017/2018 academic year to make many short lesson observations and to systematically collect data without linking to person/teacher with a specific focus on the start of lessons and the end of lessons. Through the many visits and systematic approach statistics were obtained. It gave everyone in the school an overall picture to discuss together: “This is what our teaching looks like right now regarding the start and end of lessons.”
1.12 Sweden – Observationsschema för lektion – Söråkers skola i Timrå kommun
This is an observation template from Söråkers school in Timrå municipality. It follows the chronology of the lesson in a clear way and has the following areas: 1. Focus 2. Pupils in Learning 3. De-Focus 4. General approach (about a favorable climate for learning). The school also has each part 1-4 as seperate templates since they often only observe one area at the time.
1.11 England. A prompt sheet for observing ICT lessons in primary schools
This observation template has been developed based on the Ofsted criteria for effective teaching.
It provides ICT-relevant criteria for use in observing lessons in English primary schools. Developed by the Independent ICT Educator Ian Brewer.

This template has been developed by Andy Goodeve, the former head teacher at Goldsmith Primary School in Walsall.

This is an observation template from Cheltenham Girls’ High School in Australia. It is based on the NESA standards. NESA is the Australian national authority for standards in education.

This observation template from Vialundskolan in Kumla municipality/school district starts with planning and how to start a lesson. It continues all the way to the end of the lesson and covers many of the dimensions contained in the observation template from the Swedish school inspection authority without being as extensive.

This is a list of important dimensions about how the teacher handles questions to the students during a lesson. The list is created by Howard Pitler, Ed. D. Education, former teacher and principal, co-founder of Instructional Excellence Partners and expert on lesson observations from the USA.

This is based on what good dimensions of teaching are according to research. It is used by the Swedish School Inspection Authority in their official inspections. It is free to be shared and used by others.
